Project Cheetah PM Modi to reintroduce 8 cheetahs arriving from Namibia into Kuno national park on his birthday on 17th September 2022
Project Cheetah is the worlds' first intercontinental large wild carnivore translocation project
The project is undertaken by Government of India, controlled by National Tiger Conservation authority (NTCA), along with support from Indian Oil.
Indian Oil is supporting this project with about 50 Crores under CSR project.
The cheetahs will be brought by a special customized flight painted with image of tiger.
Out of eight cheetah's 5 are female and 3 are male.
The flight will arrive on Saturday morning at Gwalior.
Each cheetah will have a dedicated monitoring team, to track the movement with the help of radio satellite tagged to collar of each animal.
This project will be officially launched by releasing the cheetahs in to the Kuno national park by PM Modi on this birthday tomorrow 17/09/2022.
