Maha Shivaratri in 2023 falls on February 18th. Here are the updated details for Shubh Muhurat, Puja Vidhi, and fasting do’s and don’ts

Shubh Muhurat – Nishita Kaal Puja Time: 12:20 AM to 1:08 AM, February 19th – Parana Time: 6:50 AM to 3:10 PM, February 19th

Puja Vidhi – Take a bath and wear clean clothes. – Decorate the Shivling with flowers and bilva leaves. – Light a lamp and incense sticks. – Offer milk, honey, and water to the Shivling.

Puja Vidhi – Recite the Shiva Chalisa, Shiva Sahasranama, or other Shiva hymns. – Offer fruits, sweets, and other food items to Lord Shiva.

Puja Vidhi – Observe a night-long vigil and keep chanting “Om Namah Shivaya.”

Fasting Do’s and Don’t Fasting is observed on Maha Shivaratri to appease Lord Shiva. It is believed that fasting purifies the body and mind, and helps in getting blessings from Lord Shiva.

Fasting Do’s and Don’t – Fasting should begin before sunrise and should end only after the completion of the Maha Shivaratri puja.

Fasting Do’s and Don’t – The fast should be observed without consuming any food or water. However, those who cannot observe a complete fast can consume fruits, milk, and water.

Fasting Do’s and Don’t – One should avoid consuming non-vegetarian food, alcohol, and tobacco during the fast.

Fasting Do’s and Don’t – One should also avoid sleeping during the night and keep chanting “Om Namah Shivaya” to stay awake.
